Bruce McMahan leading philanthropy in Cambodia
Bruce McMahan is one of America's leaders in philanthropy towards Cambodia. His foundation, in co-operation with film-maker Alison McMahan and others, is actively promoting and improving the living conditions of people in the world's most impoverished places.
Bruce's assistance for Veal Thom has shown how people living in abject poverty can, with some support, get out their own poverty cycle. With some training people can escape the helplessness of poverty to taking control of their own lives, and promote the well being of their entire town.
Bruce McMahan as a Young Man
Bruce was ambitious when he was 15 - he sawed the roof off his 1955 Studebaker Commander Coupe to make a convertible. He's now turned his ambitions towards larger projects, imbuing the world with compassion and education along the way.
Bruce is the Controlling General Partner and CEO of McMahan Securities Co. L.P. and is a member of the firm's Executive and Investment Policy committees. He traded convertible securities for his own accounts in 1961. From 1966 through 1969 he managed private investment accounts in Southern California. From 1969 through 1974, he was the Managing Director of Genesis, S.A., a European-based investment manager for a number of Swiss and American investors.
Dr. McMahan graduated from the University of Southern California in 1960 and in 1992 earned his Ph.D. in Labor Economics from the Union Institute, where he also served for ten years as a trustee and from which he received the Presidents Medal for Exemplary Service.
